A guide to Kaziranga National Park.

Kaziranga has been the theme of,or has been mentioned in,several books,songs,documentaries for many decades by some famous authors.

It is a vast area covered by floodplanis,marshland,grassland,dense tropical moist forest,bheels,etc.It is a protected area in the Northeast Indian State of Assam,and covers the districts of Golaghat,Nagaon and Karbi Anglong.It has a area of about 430 sq km. and was established in 1908, Decleared National Park in 1974,and World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1985.

Perfect time to visit here is between November to April.The climatic condition of Kaziranga region is tropicl,heavyrainfall occurs is summer. therefore it is not safe for visitors and management safety is also a concern topic.

Winters are best to visit here because of warm days and cold nights. specially evening time is preferrable.

The Kaziranga National Park is covered by four sector ranges.

1)Agaratoli in Eastern Range

2)Bagori in Western Range

3)Mihimukh in central at Kohora

4)Ghorakati in Burapahar Range

(*)Visiting time:

 On normal winters visiting time is from 5:15am to 3:30pm

 there are different timing for different rides,Kaziranga management provides two kinds of rides.They are Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari

0) Elephant Safari:Timing in morning is from 5:30am-7:30am and in evening from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Only two tourist and a Mahout can travel in one elephant. 

 Elephant Safari fee for Indians- 900/- INR  and for Foreigners 2000/- INR

this Elephant safari is availiable only in two divisions of Kaziranga i.e Kohora and Bagori.

0) Jeep Safari:Timing in morning is from 7:00am-10:00am and in evening from 1:30pm-4:00pm. The jeep safari covers an area of not more then 10 km in one route. 1 guard always travels on the jeep with the tourists.

Jeep Safari fee varies in all ranges. For Indians it cost around 3800 INR-5000 INR and for foreigners it cost around 7500 INR-8000 INR.

Kaziranga management occasionally provides Boat service and Treaking.

 No private vehicle is permitted inside the Park.

(*) Climate:

Tropical as well as monsoon climate prevail in this region.temperature is about 26-38 celcius in summer and in winter 10-25 celcius. 

this region has a annual rainfall of 2220mm. according to a forest ranger i found there said that,in 2016 august about 80% of kaziranga was flooded. In summer pathetic condition occurs to the animals. winters are pleasant for every indivisual works there as well animals. 

(*)Flora and Fauna:

A wide and enrich flora and fauna is endemic in this region.

(1) Flora:

 The vegetation of Kaziranga involves of four types such as-

Alluvial inundated grassland,Alluvial Savanna Woodland,Tropical moist Decidious forest,Tropicalsemi evergreen forest.

tall elephant is found on high areas while short grasses on low lying areas. aquatic plants are in large numbers.

(2) Fauna:

Kaziranga has the highest population of one-horned rhino which is about 70% of the total one-horned rhino population in the world,wild Asiatic water Buffalo,swamp deer,Asiatic elephant. small animals like hog deer,wild boer and Indian muntjac. Kaziranga is more famous for 'big five' i.e Rhino,Royal Bengal Tiger,Asian elephant,Water buffalo,swamp deers.

Out of the 35 significant endemic mammal species 15 are threatened aminal as per IUCN red data list.Kaziranga is also the homme of Endanger Ganges Dolphin.

some of small mammals of kaziranga includes Golden Langur,hoolock gibbon,flying squirral,bengal fox etc found here.

some international migratory birds are also found here suchh as pelican,tern,stork etc

large size snakes like Reticulated Python,rock python,and most venomous king cobra are also found in large amount.

(*) How to reach Kaziranga :

It is by the side of NH37.

1) By Airport-

 Closest Airport is Salonibari Airport in Tezpur, which is about 80km,

and Rowriah Airport in Jorhat which is about 100km,

and IGB  International Airport in Guwahati about 300km away.

2)By Bus-
one can arrive there by  ASTC Bus service from ISBT, it will be a journey of 5hrs.

 Bonoshree lodge is another option as it is maintained govt. of Assam Tourism Department and Corporation.

Kaziranga trip is incomplete without shopping. Items bought by the locals in the road side strand.

The Queen of Hills, Mussoorie

"Mussoorie " This place is enriched by a wide variety of flora and fauna, natural beauty and mesmerizing scenes. The official language is HINDI, GARHWALI.  

Here some important points about Mussoorie :

1. AREA

Mussoorie is one of the most beautiful hill station of our Country. Popularly known as Queen of Hills. It is in the Doon valley. It is a tourism city surrounded by luscious mountains. 

2. TRANSPORT 

 It is almost 32km away form the main city Dehradun. The only means of transportation is by bus or taxi. One can take a bus starts from ISBT or from the Railway Station. Mostly early morning and night rides are preferable. Serpentine bend of roads makes the ride pleasant. The night view of Dehradun from Mussoorie is eyecatching.

 

3. CLIMATE

 Here prevails sub-tropical  monsoon climate. It has an average temperature thoughout the year. Heavy rainfall and warmness in summer and some spell of snow in winter.

With moderate conditions of living. 

4.TOURIST ATTRACTION 

 Abundantly rich in tourism. People also visit as it is the gateway to Gangotri. Some of the places are:-

 Tourism industry is the main occupation, everyone is involved from any side such as living Hotels,shops etc. 

Commercialization is increased. Literacy rate is also good 89%.

Overall a nice and decent place to visit. with family ,friends and loved ones. One can find peace and quality time with there family.
